OPTIMAX X2: From IDEAS 2024 to the Field

When RAAD Tactical introduced the OPTIMAX X2 Solar Red Dot Sight at IDEAS 2024, the objective was bigger than launching another optic.

The goal was to introduce a Pakistani tactical optics platform developed around military-oriented specifications, durability, modern electronics and a price that Pakistani professionals and serious shooters could realistically afford.

Today, the OPTIMAX X2 has moved beyond the exhibition stand. It has been tested by experienced professionals, supplied for professional use, and hundreds of units have reached security personnel and civilian shooters across Pakistan.

For RAAD Tactical, that journey is what makes the X2 special.

Launched at Pakistan’s Premier Defence Exhibition

RAAD Tactical selected IDEAS 2024, Pakistan’s premier international defence exhibition, as the platform to introduce the OPTIMAX X2.

That choice represented what we wanted OPTIMAX to become: not simply another commercially available red dot, but a serious Pakistani optics brand capable of standing alongside tactical equipment presented to military, law-enforcement and defence professionals.

Since then, the X2 has become one of the key products representing RAAD Tactical’s expansion from tactical clothing and load-bearing equipment into weapon accessories and optical systems.

Built Around Serious Specifications

The OPTIMAX X2 combines a 2 MOA red dot, solar power, CR2032 battery backup and automatic power management.

Its solar system is designed to extend operational battery life, while Auto D-TEC technology allows the optic to transition between solar and battery power depending on available light.

The X2 also incorporates Shake Awake motion activation, allowing the optic to become operational when movement is detected rather than requiring the user to manually switch it on every time.

Its published specifications include:

  • Solar + CR2032 dual-power system
  • Shake Awake activation
  • 2 MOA aiming dot
  • 10 daylight + 2 night-vision settings
  • Up to 70,000-hour stated battery life
  • IP67 water resistance
  • 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminium housing
  • Fully multi-coated optics
  • 96% stated lens transmission
  • Operating range from -30°C to +60°C
  • 1200G shock specification
  • 1X magnification with unlimited eye relief

These specifications are published for the current X2 platform by RAAD Tactical. (raadtac.shop)

1200G Shock Resistance

An optic mounted on a weapon has to do much more than produce a clear red dot.

It has to survive repeated recoil and vibration while maintaining its integrity and performance.

The OPTIMAX X2 carries a published shock specification of 1200G acceleration, with RAAD’s technical specifications listing testing at 1200G, 3.8 Hz and 100 cycles. (raadtac.shop)

That durability requirement was an important part of the X2 concept from the beginning.

We wanted an optic that could be taken seriously as working equipment, rather than something designed primarily to look tactical.

Tested by Professionals

Specifications on paper matter, but professional evaluation matters even more.

One of the most significant evaluations of the OPTIMAX X2 came from Salman Ali Khan, an experienced weapons designer and development professional associated with Pakistan’s weapons-development sector.

According to RAAD Tactical’s published account of his evaluation, approximately 10,000 rounds were fired during the testing and stress evaluation of the OPTIMAX X2.

For us, feedback from someone with professional experience in weapons design carries considerably more value than ordinary promotional claims.

An optic can look impressive in photographs.

The real question is what happens after thousands of rounds.

That is exactly the kind of testing culture we want behind the OPTIMAX name. (raadtac.shop)

From Civilian Shooters to Security Forces

The X2 was never intended to remain an exhibition prototype.

Since its introduction, hundreds of OPTIMAX units have been sold, reaching both civilian shooters and personnel within Pakistan’s security community.

RAAD Tactical already works across Pakistan’s defence and law-enforcement sectors, and red-dot optics form part of the company’s broader defence-solutions portfolio. (raadtac.shop)

Seeing the OPTIMAX platform move into professional use is particularly important for us because it represents something larger than sales numbers.

It represents trust in a Pakistani tactical brand.

Every unit being used professionally also gives us something extremely valuable: experience, feedback and another opportunity to improve future generations.

And Then There Is the Price

Perhaps one of the most surprising aspects of the OPTIMAX X2 is its price.

An optic carrying solar power, Shake Awake technology, IP67 protection, a 2 MOA dot and a published 1200G shock specification was introduced at a price point of approximately:

PKR 50,000

For RAAD Tactical, affordability does not mean turning professional equipment into disposable equipment.

Our objective with OPTIMAX has been to reduce the gap between the features expected from serious international tactical optics and what Pakistani users can realistically access.

The X2 is currently listed through RAAD Tactical’s official store, with the standard price shown at PKR 50,000 and promotional pricing sometimes offered below that level. (raadtac.shop)

Building a Pakistani Optics Brand

The OPTIMAX X2 is important to us for another reason.

Pakistan has an established defence manufacturing industry, but much of the premium commercial tactical optics market has historically been associated with foreign brands.

We believe there is room for Pakistani companies to change that.

Not by simply putting a Pakistani name on a product.

But through specification, testing, professional feedback, after-sales support and continuous development.

RAAD Tactical also provides an electronic warranty registration system for OPTIMAX optics, with the current program providing a six-month limited warranty against manufacturing defects. (raadtac.shop)

That accountability is part of building confidence in a local tactical brand.

From IDEAS 2024 to What Comes Next

IDEAS 2024 was the beginning of the OPTIMAX X2 story, not the destination.

What began as a new Pakistani optic displayed at an international defence exhibition is now being used by shooters and professionals in the real world.

Tested.

Improved.

Trusted.

And still evolving.

The long-term objective behind OPTIMAX is much larger than one red dot sight. We want to contribute toward a future where Pakistani-developed tactical equipment can earn its place through performance rather than simply through its country of origin.

The OPTIMAX X2 is one step in that direction.

Launched at IDEAS 2024.
Tested by professionals.
Trusted in the field.
